The world raised their wands on Thursday, January 14th when Alan Rickman sadly passed away due to cancer at the young age of 69. Friends, family and cast members have always described Rickman as a kind, talented and generous man who was always there for his friends and family when they needed him. While the loss of one of London's most beloved actors is an utter tragedy, today we are not mourning, but celebrating his life and the incredible memories he has given his fans and his loved ones through numerous characters that he had brought to life on the big screen. Here are my two favorite performances of Rickman's magical lifetime:

2. Love Actually

Love Actually (2003) is a Richard Curtis film that includes nine intertwined stories, one of which has Alan Rickman as a married man who is tempted by his emotions when he has a new secretary join his office. I was always used to see Rickman as a villain, and in some ways he was still not a "good guy" in this film; however, it was a nice change of pace to see him as a normal person in a movie. I feel as though it showed his talent through an even wider range of acting by being able to play someone outside of his normal repertoire of villains.

1. Harry Potter Films

Alan Rickman did an absolutely magical job bringing the character of Severus Snape from the Harry Potter books to the big screen in 8 different films. He made me terrified of him, he made me laugh, he made me cry and he truly made me feel such incredible emotions and love towards him by the end of the 8th film. I have loved you since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and I will continue loving you always.

"After all this time?"

"Always" said Snape.

Hundreds of thousands of years people have walked this planet, and I got lucky enough to be alive during the same era as you. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with the world, Alan Rickman. Rest in magic, Professor. Always.
