The last installment of the Harry Potter series Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out in theatres July 7, 2011. That was almost five years ago. With that being said, five years is a long time and many things change especially a person's life. Throughout these next 13 weeks, we will be discussing the cast of the Harry Potter series and what they have been doing Post-Potter.

This week specifically we will be discussing what Daniel Radcliffe has been doing since he played Harry Potter, the boy who lived.

The now 26-year-old actor had played Harry Potter for over ten years of his life, but after the final movie Radcliffe had admitted to a drinking problem. He told Heat magazine, “I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem. I don’t want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily — I mean, nightly.” He felt his drinking problem was mainly due to the fact that he was trying to find some sort of "normal" after playing this incredibly famous wizard for ten years of his life. However, he has said that he has been sober since 2013, and I think he has found his sense of "normal" and a new life outside of the Potter franchise.

I mean, look at Radcliffe rapping Blackalicious' "Alphabet Aerobics" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, talk about a wizard at rapping.

All puns aside, Radcliffe has starred in numerous movies since the Potter franchise ended; some good, some weird, but he definitely wasn't at Hogwarts anymore.

The first movie I ever saw Daniel Radcliffe in that wasn't Harry Potter was Woman in Black (2012). This movie is about a lawyer (Radcliffe) who was greiving the loss of his wife when he is sent to a small town on business. He soon finds out that his late client's house is haunted by the ghost of a woman, and Radcliffe is stuck enduring her wrath. I'm not going to lie, I couldn't look at him and not think this was "Harry Potter in a really bad horror movie." In fact, everytime it was dark on the screen, I would be the first to shout out "lumos!" For those who aren't as obsessed with Harry Potter as me, lumos is known as the "wand-lighting spell." Radcliffe's acting was pretty decent in this movie, but to me it wasn't a good enough movie to break him away from his Harry Potter persona.

What If (2013) starred Radcliffe along side Zoe Kazan. It is a romantic comedy about being stuck in the friend zone, I loved everything about this movie, especially Daniel Radcliffe. He was hilarious, cute and played a perfect best friend that was stuck in the friend zone (not to mention his adorable British accent.) While watching this movie, I finally saw Radcliffe as an actor outside of the Potter franchise. He was his own person, and his personality really came through into his role. I have watched this numerous times after impatiently waiting for this romcom to hit theatres. If you haven't seen this flick yet, please do! If you comment and tell me you don't like it, I will award 100 points to Slytherin, and nobody wants that, do we?

Honestly, Horns (2013) was an extremely bizarre movie. I wish I could explain it better than that, but I just cannot. I'm not going to lie to you either, this is a movie I turned off and did not regret turning off. It was not one of Radcliffe's best movies in my opinion. Throughout the movie Radcliffe starts to form horns in his head after being accused of killing his girlfriend. There were a lot of flashbacks, naked people and alcohol. When watching it, I really wasn't even sure what genre the movie was. If anyone has watched this movie, or if anyone ends up watching it please let me know in the comments below letting me know what you thought of this film! I'd love to know if I was the only one who found this movie bizarre or if there were others like me.

Then there are Daniel Radcliffe life moments like this where he is walking numerous dogs while smoking a cigarette, Even though this was for his small cameo in Trainwreck (2015) as "dog walker", it still made me fall in love with him as a person all over again (mainly because of my obsession with dogs and British men.) The movie itself was hilarious with Amy Schumer as the lead, but having the Daniel Radcliffe make an appearance made the movie that much better. Even though Radcliffe plays a small part, I would still advise throwing in some popcorn and renting this movie.

Daniel Radcliffe has had quite the career on stage and on camera. Even though I grew up watching him create magical memories for me as Harry Potter, I love even more to be able to watch him grow up and away from the franchise making it big as "Daniel Radcliffe."

Don't forget to apparate back here next week to hear about what the beautiful Emma Watson has been up to since her brainiac Hermione Granger days. If you don't know what apparate means, you're more than likely a muggle and you may just surf the internet to get back here to my magical page!
