Welcome back, Potterheads! Last week we discussed Bonnie Wright, and what she has been doing post-Potter. This week’s spotlight is reserved for the clumsy, pure-blooded wizard: Matthew Lewis, more famously known as Neville Longbottom.
Before we begin, can we take a moment to thank Dumbledore for puberty?

Matthew Lewis originally auditioned for the Harry Potter film when he was 11-years-old, not necessarily to play Neville Longbottom. After the roles of Harry, Hermione and Ron were announced, he still hadn't heard anything back from his audition and decided he would eventually audition again for the Chamber of Secrets. That is, until he received a random phone call extending an invitation to come meet Christopher Columbus, the director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. That is when he officially auditioned for the part and brought our young Neville Longbottom to life. Besides puberty being extremely kind to Lewis, what else has this Potter hunk been up to?

Even though Harry Potter series has ended (insert tears here), Lewis hasn't officially moved on from his Potter fame. Why should he? After all, the rest of the world isn't over Harry Potter yet. After he finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, he lent his voice to Neville's character for the Deathly Hallows Part 2 video game. He also just recently attended the annual Celebration of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. At the most recent celebration, he decided to show off his new facial feature: a mustache (proof of this can be seen below).

Neville Longbottom has used a transfiguration spell to transform into Neville Longmustache.

Besides continuing magic in the muggle world, Lewis has acted in only a few other movies outside of the Potter franchise. His first movie that he starred in the following year after the Potter films ended a movie called The Rise (2012) also known as Wasteland. The movie is about a man who is wrongly arrested due to being framed, and he gets his three best friends together (one of which being Lewis) to try and rob the local drug kingpin to gain revenge.
The two other films Lewis has appeared in are Night of the Living Dead (2012) and Me Before You (2016). For being his first films post-Potter, he has quite a variety of film genres!

While Lewis has not been doing much work in the film industry since Potter has ended, he has been quite active in the television industry. He recently just finished filming Bluestone 42 (2012-2015), and is currently starring in Ripper Street and Happy Valley.

Lewis may not be taking on as many acting jobs as his other Potter co-stars, but he has quite a variety of films and television shows under his wand. The world hopes to see more of hunky Mr. Lewis this year! Check back here at the end of the semester as we update any new films, television shows or theatre shows that Lewis may star in!

Don't forget to apparate back here next week to hear about what the oddball witch, Evanna Lynch, has been up to since her Luna Lovegood days. If you don't know what apparate means, you're more than likely a muggle and you may just surf the internet to get back here to my magical page!
